Hello and Welcome!
I’m Nate and I love food. I love to cook and eat, so much that I now am a Type II diabetic. This blog that I have created for those who life the fight to hopefully reduce and maybe reverse the affect of this chronic condition.
It all started back in 2016 when I was having the wonderful symptoms of being diabetic: constant thirst, pain in my feet, slow healing wounds and the waking up 4 or more times a night to pee. So I went to the Dr. and received the news. My A1C was at a 13, not good. I now have to take medication to control my blood sugar.
The first 90days I did pretty good getting my A1C down to a 7.5, good but still high (Below 5.7 ideal). I did this by changing my diet and exercising. Things were getting better. But as you know life can happen and you can slide a little.
Fast Forward to 2020, WHAT A YEAR!!! Well that being said I had not been doing so good. Not taking my meds on a regular basis and not watching my blood sugar. I was trying to get a RX refilled August of 2020 and I get a call from my Dr. , He was like “um I haven’t seen you since November 2019, I need to see you for a check up”. So I scheduled the appointment and it was an eye opener. I also forgot to mention along with diabetes I have hypertension and morbid obesity (345 lbs). He tested my A1C and they could not tell what it was. Their tester didn’t go that high and now I will need to start taking insulin. Things need to change and my life depends on it.
That brings me to this Blog, January 2021. My current A1C taken in December 2020 was 6.4 and falling and I was down 50 lbs. and I am off insulin and my meds are cut in half. Life choices I have made are changing my life and a friend suggested me to share what I have done.
PS. also made my goal of being under 290lbs by the New Year.
